About Citadel

After 12 years of competing in speech and debate, Micah Magness decided to share his expertise with others and founded Citadel Coaching. Built on the values of integrity, mentorship, competitive excellence, education, and God’s glory, Citadel exists to develop students both as competitors and as individuals of character and conviction. The platform serves students from across the nation, ranging from first-time novices to established champions, equipping each one with the skills, mindset, and discipline necessary for consistent success. Through personalized coaching and intentional investment, Citadel aims not only to produce stronger speakers and debaters, but to shape lives marked by excellence, purpose, and lasting growth.

Our Philosophy

Our coaching philosophy is rooted in application, not abstraction. Coaching at Citadel is not a lecture-driven recitation of strategies, nor a passive overview of debate theory; it is a hands-on process of turning concepts into repeatable in-round execution. While we teach novel strategy and advanced competitive frameworks, ideas are immediately translated into tangible instruction, drills, and concrete decision-making under pressure. Students do not simply learn what to do. They learn how to do it consistently, clearly, and effectively in every round they enter.

Education

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits."
- Proverbs 18:21

Honesty is paramount, and we are committed to consistently choosing what is honorable even when no one is watching.

Skills are not born; they are made. We guide our students through the learning and application necessary for measurable improvement.

The goal is not simply to train competitors, but to personally invest in each student's growth and walk alongside their development.

Everything we have comes from the Lord, and everything we do must reflect that. God is the only priority.

Victory is a hollow destination if the journey there was not meaningful. We don't just get students a trophy; we equip them with the mindsets, habits, and truth that they can take with them to their next journey.
